The City of Sultan is known for its riverside walks in Osprey Park, the Sky Valley Historical Society Museum, and the Sky Valley Arts Council. This little town has a charming, rural atmosphere that is perfect for raising a family.
The Osprey Park provides a playground, play fields, and picnic areas for children. In addition, it offers access to the Sultan River, which is home to five distinct salmon species. The Sky Valley Historical Society Museum and the Sky Valley Arts Council encourage arts and historical events to preserve the town’s past.
The city was named after the local indigenous chief Tseul-ted. Still, to the ears of the early settlers, it sounded more like “Sultan”; thus, it was given that name in 1905 when the city was founded. At the time, the town’s principal sources of income were mining and logging. The city is now home to large retail, education, health, manufacturing, and construction employment centers.
Each year in July, the city has a three-day street fair known as the Sultan Shindig, which has been going strong since 1983 and now draws an estimated 20,000 people. There is a parade, a car display, and a carnival with rides, games, food, and live music. In addition, several logging competitions—including axe throwing, firewood chopping, speed climbing, and wood sculpting—are held as part of the event to pay tribute to the region’s heritage.
The U.S. Route 2 highway connects Sultan to neighboring communities, including Monroe and Gold Bar to the east. If you live in these towns, our team covers pressure washing in Monroe, WA, and pressure washing in Gold Bar, WA.
